The main ingredient is berberine which can be used as a bittering agent. It has antimicrobial and protozoan, antihypertensive and anti-adrenergic effects. Berberine has antibacterial effects on hemolytic streptococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Freund and Shigella dysentery, and can enhance leukocyte phagocytosis effect.
